It has long been an understanding of the Presbyterian Church that all members are ministers of the church. It is a part of our tradition that all people are invited to participate in the worship service. One particular way is to be the "lay reader." Being a reader is a sacred and important part of the worship service. You are the lay person leading the congregation during the Sunday worship service in the "Prayer of Confession" and you are also responsible for reading two Bible passages and praying the "Prayer of Dedication" when the offering is recieved. Many people find participating in the service in this way is a special way to experience worship.
If you would like to participate but don't feel experienced enough Tim is happy to work with you before the service so you feel confident when the day comes. Before your Sunday the bulletin will be emailed to you so you can practice and be ready for that Sunday.
If you have any questions about being a reader please call Tim at the office 914-941-1142.
Please check the schedule below and pick an "open" Sunday and then fill in the information on the left and we will email you a confirmation and then the week before you will receive the order of service by email. Thank you!
