Our Sunday School is directed by an award winning Christian Educator Patty Chapman. It meets each Sunday (from September to June) during the church service (which starts at 10:30 AM) Children are invited to come to church first up until the Children's Message and then proceed to classes). The School is divided into several age groups to maximize the meaning for each group. Fellowship, worship, Mission, spirituality and involvement are key ingredients of the School's purpose.
Fellowship is a product of involved students and teachers engaged in the various activities which are described below. The students use a curriculum developed by the director Patty Chapman that encourages participation and learning about the same Bible passage that is being preached about in the church service. Families then can talk about the passage after church and during the week.
Lessons at Scarborough Church are not just book learnings. Throughout the year, students partake in a wide variety of events. Trips to Stone Barns and Phillipsburgh Manor enhance the lessons of the day dealing with sustainability, environment, and our world around us. Special activities throughout the year include balloon sheep herding, the ever popular Christmas Pageant, and various cooking events.
The school is a creative and fun adventure for teachers and children. If you want your children to be involved or you want to teach contact Tim Ives at firstname.lastname@example.org. Church School starts September 11, 2016.
